There are a couple free campgrounds, This is bear country, the campgrounds These was our camp, had a permit, Showers located at Grande

but you need to get a permit from the
Park Ranger located at the Visitor Center.
It is a simple process, your name and
number of days you want to stay.
have food lockers and storage bins, but
otherwise are primitive. (Mostly the bears
stay in the mountains, but on occasion
will venture down to the valley floor).
Campground at Big Bend National Park
but returning at night these guys had
moved in. They didn't care about any
rules or regulations, but as the situation
evolved, we became good friends and
partied all night.
We didn't see any rattlesnakes, but this
is classic rattlesnake country. Probably
scorpions and poisonous spiders are
common. Just be aware...
