awaits you at Bisti Wilderness Area. You
will be surprised and amazed... incredible
landscapes is an understatement.

Bitsi Wilderness Area

There are no official campgrounds, but no
signs that say you can't camp. We just find
a spot along the road. There are a few firerings,
but we didn't want to cause any damage,
as it is a fragil landscape. You can litter
anywhere else, but not here...

We have been trying to capture the perfect
photo of Bisti Wilderness, but it's not so easy.

There are some tent camping areas...

There are a couple ponds about 1 1/2 miles away.
Notice the salt along the pond's edge and clumps
of grass. It is very unique. In the wet season there
are spots of quicksand, how deep we don't know,
but you could easily get stuck.

DIRECTIONS:
From Farmington, NM
Take Hwy.371 approximately 30- 35 miles
You will see the sign pointing to Bisti Wilderness.
Then it is 5 miles rough dirt roads.

You can also come in the back way from Hwy.550,
but the road numbers don't match what the map said.
Is it road #7297 or #7500???
