Road#1917 near Packers Cabin

Packer's Cabin has an established campground
with picnic tables, metal firerings and outhouse.
There are 2 campsites.

Packers Cabin can be rented.

There are several established and dispersed
campsites on the road towards Packer's Cabin.

Loeb State Park Campground has Electric
sites, most with water spigets for $12. That
is a fair price and don't forget about showers.
It is at a low elevation, the weather is moderate
year round, this is called the "Banana Belt".

FS Road#1376 towards Packer's Cabin
There are several established camping areas.
• MILLER BAR $5.00

Road#1376 between milepost 2 and 3.
You can camp along the Chetco River.
This is a narrow and steep road.
Not recommended for RVs.
Not recommended during bad weather.
No fee during off-season.
• NOOK BAR $5.00

Nook Bar is located between milepost 3 and 4.
This is FS Road 080 which is only a couple
hundred yards in length. Nook Bar is a simple
camp area along the Chetco River. There is a small
outhouse and firepits. Nook Bar is is free during
the off season.
• LITTLE REDWOOD CAMPGROUND $10.00
2 1/2 miles past the Boater Registration.
There are signs warning you will be prosecuted
for failure to pay required fee. Big and nasty
speed bumps in the campground.

At the junction of Road#1376 and Road#19xx?
There are campgrounds on both sides of the
bridge over the South Fork Chetco River.
Look closely and there are unmarked roads.
The first camp is to the left before the bridge.

Take a sharp right after crossing the bridge
and there is a narrow, steep road down to
the river. Nice camp and some good photos.
Portable toilets and garbage can.

SOUTH FORK BLUFF
Nice free camping area...
Just before Chetco River Inn

On Road#1917 at the junction of Road#1378
Towards Packers Cabin and there is a
Day Use Area on Road#39-12-9.0. It is
private property, but the sign says,
"Have a nice day, Thanks"

Near milepost 2 on Road#1917 there
are several camps on the spur road. Every
campsite had garbage spread around.

QUAIL PRAIRIE LOOKOUT
3 1/2 miles past Packers Cabin.
Can be rented by private parties.

UPPER CHETCO TRAIL#1102
About 3.5 miles past Packers Cabin. Stay right
at the split towards Quail Prairie Lookout. It is
really a parking area for the Upper Chetco Trail.
There is a picnic table and outhouse. We did camp
here before without any problems...

ROAD#1107
Road#1107 does a big loop past Snaketooth Butte,
connecting to ROAD#1108 at Winchuck Campground.

SNOW CAMP LOOKOUT
See: Gold Beach / Snow Camp
Some good views. Can be rented.
UPDATE:
Snow Camp Lookout was a victim of a forest fire.
There are talks and efforts to rebuild it. Narrow
road that cut through the steep hillsides.
