Owl Canyon Campground Free day use. Camping Fee is $6. You can find some free camping areas in the vicinity, mostly you are surrounded by BLM land, but for six dollars, OWL CANYON CAMPGROUND is worth it. Picnic tables, metal firerings, BBQ's, toilets, and water. Also there are shade remadas. There are some interesting desert views. Rainbow Basin Scenic Drive with crazy landscapes from another planet, it is hard to absorb. Rainbow Basin Scenic Drive Rainbow Basin Scenic Drive Rainbow Basin Scenic Drive DIRECTIONS: From downtown Barstow Take Main Street to 1st Street. Take 1st Street, you will cross over an old steel bridge. Turn left on Irwin Road. After a couple miles you will see the sign for Rainbow Basin. Turn left on Fossil Bed Road. Continue a couple more miles and you will see the sign for Owl Canyon Campground and Rainbow Basin Scenic Drive. Desert tortoises are protected by law. Do not remove, handle or disturb them.
