Take Shea Road about 15 miles
Between milepost 9 and 10 you will
see the sign for Swansea. Turn on
Swansea Road and it is 17 miles to
Swansea Townsite.
General Store in Bouse, turn north on Main
Street, past the Post Office, turn left on Rayder
Drive. It is a couple miles of paved surface
turning to dirt. Where the pavement ends,
there is a split in the road. Stay to the left
and follow this road about 20 miles, past
Midway junction, to Swansea Road. Turn
right on Swansea Road and it is about 8 miles
to Swansea Townsite.
The last 3 miles to Swansea Townsite is a
narrow, winding road with steep grades, and
to top it off, the road is littered with sharp rocks.
Not recommended for RVs
You drive through several washes, that when
it rains become little rivers. Then they leave silt
and sand across the road which can be difficult
to transverse without a four wheel drive. Check
the weather report before heading out.
section of the desert. There is gold everywhere,
we just haven't found it yet, but have found
pieces of turquoise.
Walking down this wash, we found
several interesting rocks...
This is about as big as your thumb.
There are camp areas along Shea Road.
After turning on Shea Road from the
junction of Hwy.95, drive about 7 miles
and you will see OHV trails with camp
areas along the road.
